Top 10 SS15 Trends

The time has come to refurbish your wardrobe yet again. This year catwalks were ablaze with a sizzling selection of fresh new styles, hot for SS15. Bag Envy has done all the hard work for you and handpicked the best. Here are the top 10 trends to look out for.

1.The New Black and White

Black and white returns with a bang. Prepare to see this combination everywhere – from high street to designer stores – the return of black and white is set to be huge.

There are few colours that have been used in fashion as much as black and white and this classic combination has been seen throughout the decades. So what makes it so special this season?

Designers have been experimenting for SS15 catwalks and the results are in. Thakoon breathed a new lease of life into the trend, with inspired offerings of textures and fabrics, whilst designers such as Joseph Altuzarra and Dianne von Furstenberg flaunted an eclectic selection of patterns and designs.

You should expect to see this combination everywhere, from high street to designer stores.

Of course one can never go wrong with a monochrome accessory. This Manhattan monochrome bag is bang on trend and goes with almost anything.

2. Far From Mellow Yellow

It’s the New Year and the time has come for royal blue to denounce the throne. Punchy yellow seems to be Spring’s colour of choice.

You may immediately dismiss yellow as a colour you really do not want to wear – and you are not alone in this. This happy colour can prove tricky to pull off and this need not be the case. Contrary to popular belief, there is a colour for everyone. The trick is finding a shade that best complements your skin tone.

If you would still rather not go full yellow, there are ways to update your wardrobe with this season’s colour of choice. Given yellow’s vibrancy, you do not need much to give your outfit an extra bit of flair. Try yellow skirts, shoes or accessories to add a bit of contrast.

3. That 70s Look
With every season comes a new decade. The decade of choice for SS15 sees the return of the all things seventies. There appears to be a genuine tribute to the decade, down to similar type fabrics and details for an unrefined bohemian touch.

However, don’t go hunting for those full-fledged bell bottoms this year because it is all about the subtle touches of suede and fringes.

Try our Moda micro bag for an effortless fringed boho look. If you’re heading out to a festival this year, this bag is perfect for fitting in all your essentials.

4. The Kimono
Designers took inspiration from the east for some of their collections. Expect to see Japanese styles dancing across the high street this year, with a solid appearance of kimono-style wraps, billowing sleeves and obi belts from designers including Alexander Wang, Tome and Gucci.

5. Modern Safari
Prepare to unleash your wild side this Spring.

Many designers featured safari-inspired garments in their SS15 collections. For Jason Woo this meant chic khaki trench dresses, whilst adventurous Delpoza integrated camo-inspired prints into designs. Forget roughing it in the wild, these safari-esque styles ooze sophistication with a high-class aesthetic.

6. Sassy Suede
The suede look was bound to make an appearance with the seventies theme the runways. Look for trench coats, A-line skirts, and classic boot-cut pants for classic 70s chic look.

7. All About White
Another colour to watch out for SS15 is white. At this point there are no guidelines against when you can wear all white, but there are new rules about

how to wear it. Update your wardrobe easily by layering, mismatching textures, or simply combining garments with different shades for an added boost of style.

8. Daring Denim
Our much-loved denim seemingly seduced designers and Summer looks to be decidedly Indigo-themed. Designer Frida Giannini reportedly took to the stage wearing pair of wide cut jeans designed for Gucci this season, so this style is set to be huge. Time to ditch those skinnies for wide cuts and shorter lengths.

For those who avoid denim at all costs, keep your eyes peeled for intriguing tailored pieces heading this way. Some designers including Louise Vuitton and Chanel modified denim as formalwear, from impeccably contoured jackets to patched jeans. Perfect for a slightly casual day at the office, no?

9. The Off-Shoulder Dress
If you want to stay head and shoulders above the rest in 2015, there is one style in particular guaranteed to see you through. Off-shoulder dresses stole the limelight on the catwalks, exuding elegance and sophistication and a touch of glamour.

This versatile style can be worn many different ways. You could go delicate and girly during the day with subtle yellows, pleats and ruffles as seen by Topshop Unique. For those who prefer sleek and powerful looks like Balenciaga, try bold necklines, longer lengths and fabrics.

This classic style will be perfect for showing off a little flesh in the sunshine – without giving away too much.

10. Go Gingham
Time to peel off those pretty winter plaids and get gorgeous with gingham. This print is proving popular on both sides of the pond and will be making a big appearance in Spring 2015. It is all about the check.

Whether you choose matchy-matchy oufits, dresses or skirts, you cannot go wrong.
